We ended up staying here 4 nights- anchored in front of Baptist Hospital. Absolutely beautiful at night because of city lights and colorful lights on the huge bridge. did not experience troublesome wakes, but the current running through here is strong and never stops so may want to drop a second anchor for stability-or not. About 2 days into the stay we realized our anchor was stuck. Spent the next 3 days trying to free it. A huge obstacle was the seemingly abandoned sailboat which was swinging on its anchor and evidently drifting a bit too. Attempts to reposition our boat to work on freeing our anchor were hobbled by the other boat's movement. US Boat said any help we could use 'wasn't covered'. Of course. Our only recourse was to sacrifice our anchor. Funny but in the course of our trouble we let out our 2nd anchor and when we pulled it up there was another anchor (some had dumped) hanging on our line! The nice we cut the chain we moved to the Plaza Marina together ourselves. Neighbors there informed us that there is a lot of debris in that anchorage; rebar, cement blocks and metal which was disposed of there when the bridge was worked on.
I would not recommend this anchorage.

November 12 2024 Five boats anchored for the night good holding. Clean anchor came up. Light winds. Feb 8 2024 Another peaceful night anchoring in the city lights. Light winds no issues good holding. 11 9 2023 technically in no wake zone and the lights of the city are a site to see. Had a peaceful restful night. Some noise from the roads but we are used to city noise. Some helicopter noise from hospital. Good holding no issues with the current. We anchored on the marker. We have hybrid line/chain so no noise. Easy access to shore close by YMCA, Old Jacksonville landings dock, public dock by Ruth Chris and river-walk. Most boats actually do observe the no wake zone :)
