The east day dock is closed, but the west one is open. There is a boat ramp here also. It's a perfect location to dingy to and walk around town. Its free so I can't complain to much. Half the dock is missing and the other half is warn but very usable. Ive seen some larger power boats use it durning the day. The city is quite nice with some of the largest oak trees , I've seen. Old housed dating to 1717 and churches too. I still highly recommend a stop here.

Yikes. This dock has seen better days. Large catamaran was docked there and we could hardly fit our dinghy in front of it. Looks like very shallow depths on the inside of the dock at low tide. Rusty metal and splintering wood everywhere. Did the trick for a few hours.

We came it to visit Beaufort SC on Sunday 11 9 2025. Planning on going to church and doing lunch in Beaufort we tied up to the nice free dock and gathered our trash to deposit on shore before dressing up. We walked to the center walkway and found it barricaded and sign saying keep out public safety hazard. We left the dock frustrated but later accessed the town and walked around finding the whole waterfront wall area is fenced in and closed to access due to safety hazard with the wall on the water compromised. Apparently, the city has found the area has been weakened and will need major construction to repair the area. This means the whole waterfront wall except the city marina is fenced off to the public and talking to the locales it is believed this will take years to reopen if done. Bummer as we always enjoyed stopping here on our transits North and south every year. Sorry to be the bearer of this bad news.

November 2 2021 this dock access has been here for many years. Before the nice new free day dock you could access town here. It has been improved and sturdier than in the past. Best I can tell it is 180' dingy goes on inside, boats on outside. When new free dock is full you still have a chance to land here.

This is really two docks,
The first is south of the marina by the boat launch ramp, older wood dock, very serviceable, 140' long, dock boats on outside only (dingys inside)
The second dock is along the sea wall between the marina and the bridge. Nice new "aluminum" dock, about 120' outside space and room for two 50'ers on the inside (or four smaller 20ish boats). Right on the down town row.
Note: sign states No overnight, No docking 1 am to 6 am.View location on the Waterway Guide Explorer
