Hennipen's Big Bend marina was full and wind was gusting from the south at 25 mph (but was much less once docked!). Fran from the marina was so kind as to direct us to the free dock (yes, sunken barge on the bank, 6.5-7 ft of water, sounder read 3.5 ft and our Mainship draws 3.5 ft). She and a few others came over and even helped us tie off!! She offered assistance with anything we may need and told us about the grocery and bar/restaurant (Spart's Tap House) Yes, the barge is a little beat up and yes you climb up on your railing to step up onto the parking lot and climb over the rail or between them, but FREE is FREE! No different from Locking, just put out big fenders and chaff guards! Be sure to allow for up and down slack on your cleats not to damage them or lines as lines go verical! Favor the finger pier to stay clear of the rocks at the end of the barge.. (Henrey's marina is closed now and the free lock wall is. cordoned off and no docking allowed anymore (Fran came from that marina and is now up here in Hennipen)

Very short docks (for fishing boats) and loud industrial noise all night.
