New and well managed marina. The amount of paperwork initially was a little off putting but this was a small inconvenience for the super nice showers with towels provided, water and drinks in the office. The staff were great and cheerful, dock hands super helpful, and the short walk to get to the free ferry to get to Savannah was perfect. Highly recommended.

Timing the tide to get through Hell Gate is just as important to get to this marina. Good thing they gave us a clear picture of the route to take and when to come in. Strong current and deep water near dock. Had drinks and REALLY good fish tacos at the restaurant.

Great little marina with good owners. Grant and Kevin helped with logiatics as there is a specific route to get it, contrary to auto routing software. dock is deep 60ft, with very strong currents. If you are in the market it is being put up for sale. Reach out to Kevin. Showers had good water and hot. Some midges came out for dusk but dont bite inside the boat.

Anchorage Review for Doboy Island - Back River
Reviewed by: Simon Pianarosa, Gabby, on Apr 16, 2026

Draft: 5.0'Overall Rating:5True to the charts, we found a pocket that was 8 feet low tide, and at high tide it added another 7 feet. Current is decent, but manageable. We have 90 feet of chain and bridle kept us in check. Very little traffic and no effect from the ICW. We were exposed to 15 kts of wind from SE so not much protection but also no fetch. Another trawler anchored here after.

The real downer was the number of tour boats and fishing charters going out the inlet leaving large wakes behind. A short dinghy ride to the beach was nice though. Good for dogs. At night it calmed down but early in the morning the ruckus resumed so we left early.

Strong current though so even though the wind was going against the current we had our stern to the wind. A couple of fast bass boats and a tour charter came by but otherwise quiet. Morning was glass smooth and very interesting swamp critters at low tide.

It's a 1000-foot span from shore to shore so plenty of space. Some crab pots at the entrance but go beyond and you are good. Saw big gators swimming along the shore. Tidal current was strong but good golding. Anchor came up clean.
