  • Reviews Summary

The reviews for the marina highlight a generally positive experience, with several key points emerging:

    1. Facilities and Services: The marina is noted for its clean and well-maintained facilities, including restrooms, showers, and laundry services. The docks are described as solid and in good condition, with ample water depth. Fuel and pump-out services are readily available, and staff are consistently praised for their helpfulness and attentiveness.

    2. Location: While the marina is situated near a nice beach and a park, many reviewers mention that it is somewhat isolated from restaurants and shops, requiring a mile-long walk or a bike ride to reach town. Some guests appreciated the dockmaster's assistance in transportation to nearby amenities, such as Walmart.

    3. Atmosphere and Activities: The area around the marina is described as lively, with nearby parks and activities like a car show. Reviewers enjoyed the local dining options, particularly recommending the Queens Head pub for its food and drinks.

    4. Connectivity: Wi-Fi is generally good, but cell service can be weak. This may affect guests who rely on mobile connectivity.

    5. Overall Impression: Many guests express a desire to give the marina a higher rating but cite the location as a drawback. Despite this, the quality of the marina itself, the helpful staff, and the peaceful environment make it a favorable stop for boaters, especially those traveling through the Straits of Mackinac.

In summary, the marina is well-regarded for its facilities and staff, though its distance from amenities may be a consideration for potential visitors.

Quick fuel and pump out service provided. Attentive staff assists with your docking. A fishing pier is in the adjoining park. Seems to be lots of activity in the area. Potable water is available at each dock along with 30 and 50 amp electric. Inside a busy commercial harbor. Older but clean and serviceable facilities.

Dock hands super helpful with fuel and docking- as good as they get. There is not much in the immediate vicinity of the marina except a very nice beach. As others have reported, it's about a mile into town. Solid floating docks, good restroom and shower facilities. The reservation system for the Michigan marinas will frequently show they are full, yet if you call the Harbormaster will indicate there is plenty of room. This was the case for Cheboygan, site showed full, but the marina had lots of spare capacity.

Very nice Marina. The dock help was great! There was a car show in the park nearby. The walk into town is about a mile. There are some cute shops and lots of restaurants. Make sure you go to the Queens Head pub. Great food and English beer and cider too. The owners, Marcella and John, are fantastic and gave us a tour of the shops/bars, Simply Marcella, Stormy Kramer Cap and Ale, The Pig and Whistle and the Lark Theatre that are all connected. They even gave us a ride back to the marina!

I want to give it 5 stars but I can't because of the location. It is far from everything except a nice beach. There are no Ubers, taxis etc., but the dockmaster took us to Walmart. He went way beyond normal duty. The marina itself is excellent. If you have bike the location might not be an issue.

Solid wooden floating docks, with both post and cleats as is typical with Michigan marinas. Modern and clean restroom/shower good laundry (2 washers $1/load 2 dryers $1/load).

Weak cell service but good WiFi. The town has lots to offer and it is either a short walk or dinghy ride up the river. This is a good place to stay, if you don't want to deal with the lift bride or stay right in town (at the municipal marina).

Cheboygan County Marine is an easy off and back on stop for people moving through the Straits of Mackinac. Just off and at the beginning of the channel into Cheboygan I thought that there would be issues with traffic and wakes but was surprised to find no problems at all. Easy access to the fuel dock where we took on diesel that was $0.25 cheaper than anywhere else we called. Free pump out. Overnight stay was quiet and inexpensive. Docks were in good condition and there was 13 feet of water at the dock. Wide fairway made it easy to get in and out.

Good Wi-Fi and good cellular coverage. Coin op laundry on site. Nice covered pavilions with tables and grills on the property. Nice park next to the marina for walking pets. Staff was extremely helpful. Would definitely come back especially if I were low on fuel.

1st stop after wintering on Drummond Island. Great facility - very well protected, good docks, clean restrooms/showers, easy in/out, in a park setting. It's a nice dinghy ride up the river into town and beyond. Restaurants and bars are otherwise a long walk or an easy bike ride, the only reason for down-grading the rating from 5 stars.

Stopped while transiting from Lake Michigan to Lake Erie. We refueled and pumped waster here. The dockhand was most helpful with those services and in getting us tied up and situated for the night. The docks are in excellent condition. However, it is a very long way to the nearest restaurant, shopping or other amenities. Also, the shower facilities need work to be fully operational. On the other hand, we were running prior to the regular boating season, so things may be improved later on.
