We spent last weekend here. DNR website showed no availability and I did not expect any with 4 days notice but I called and the harbor master got me into the "well" next to the office and facilities. While it may not show it we had 20/30/50 amp available. Water is a bit of a reach as you have to get to the building so you may have to fill water at the fuel dock. Great facility, and service by staff. You are in the heart of the downtown area with lots of food and shopping. Groceries may be a stretch but there are options for transportation if needed. What used to be the dumpy marina when I was a kid is now the premier marina.

Cinder Pond is a nice though not large marina. Super clean and perhaps the nicest showers and bathrooms we've seen so far in the Great Lakes. This is due to a deal between the DNR and Marquette when the city handled a rebuild of the facility. There is only one or two transient slips so a 40-ish ft boat inevitably gets stuck in "the well", which is a haulout bay that rarely gets used for haulout. It had 50-amp Pwr but water was a distance away. An alternative is a long wall adjacent to the marina that is first-come first-serve. The wall has power in a few spots but it can get rocked by some commercial traffic. The town of Marquette is great and most amenities are close, within walking distance. There are good restaurants, a brewery, and good shops. A small grocery is about a mile walk. A medium walk north to Picnic rocks beach is worthwhile in good weather.

The diesel on 26 July was $4.38/gallon. From Marquette Harbor the entrance to the marina is sharp right then a sharp left which positions you at the fuel dock. The water depth in the marina was between 10ft to 11ft. This marina is one of the best marina layouts and facilities of the Michigan DNR system that I have visited. The site is well maintained, clean, and convenient to downtown Marquette. The marina is tucked into higher ground which provides protection except for SE weather. The city of Marquette is inviting and walkable. I stayed three nights.

This is a great marina. Staff are top notch. The restrooms and and showers are the nicest and cleanest that I have ever seen at a marina!!! The marina also has a nice boaters lounge and laundry facilities. A short walk to downtown. Wednesday night there is a farmers market on the main street. This is a great place to stop.

Very clean facilities. This was our first trip to Marquette by boat. Love the city, of course, and the marina was comfortable, friendly and easy to access.

Cinder Pond Marina located on the beautiful downtown waterfront in Marquette, is our favorite marina in Michigan on Lake Superior! The facilities are first class, very clean and secure. The marina staff has an awesome manager and staff. Many nearby good restaurants, excellent biking and walking trails, clean well kept parks and the city make Cinder Pond Marina a must stop. The only reason I rated this 4 versus 5 is there are no mechanical services on site. For us that has never been a reason to not stop. We look forward to our next multi days stay!
