- Date Reported: Feb 11, 2026
- Reporter: Waterway Guide Staff
- Source: USCG District 5
- Description:
Arland Dean Williams Junior Memorial Bridge (Rochambeau Memorial Bridge) across the Potomac River, mile 109.9, will undergo maintenance from April 30, 2025, through December 30, 2026.
Work includes fender system replacement, underwater pier repairs, and topside concrete repairs. Equipment will remain positioned on the northeast span for the duration of the project, resulting in a temporary 20-foot reduction in channel width, leaving approximately 86 feet of horizontal clearance. Temporary work platforms beneath the bridge will reduce vertical clearance by no more than 5 feet, leaving approximately 19 feet of vertical clearance.
Dive operations will occur near the navigational channel from August 18, 2025, through December 30, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Mariners must reduce speed, maintain a no-wake condition, and remain clear of the marked dive area, which will be delineated by buoys, dive flags, and flashing beacons. Vessels transiting the area are required to contact the dive team on vhf-fm channel 13 or 16 prior to entering the work zone.
Mariners are urged to exercise extreme caution and adjust transits accordingly.
