Wedgefield Plantation Association (WPA), is notifying mariners regarding the upcoming dredging operations within the Wedgefield Plantation Canals in Georgetown County, South Carolina. The project is scheduled to commence in October 2025, with an estimated completion date of January 31, 2026. The project consists of the excavation of 48,752 cubic yards of material from 14.07 acres within the Wedgefield Plantation canals.
The excavated material will be placed within the existing 12-acre on-site upland-confined disposal facility. Dredging activities are not authorized between February 1st to April 1st to limit impacts to essential fish habitat. hours of operation will be from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, five days a week. Equipment being used is a 10-inch hydraulic cutterhead dredge, suction pipeline and dredge pump. Vessels will be monitoring VHF-FM channel 16. - Lat / Lon: N 33° 25.914' / W 079° 14.904'
