The target closing date for the 2026 navigation season for Montreal / Lake Ontario Section: January 5, 2027.Pleasure craft will be locked through at the fixed times below throughout the entire season. Traffic management will ensure lockage within one hour of the scheduled time. On the day of transit, check the website Expected Pleasure Craft Lockage Schedule to make sure there's no change to the regular schedule.
Upbound lockage: 9:00 a.m.
Downbound lockage: 6:00 p.m.The fee for the Saint Lambert Lock is $25.00 CAD. Pleasure craft wishing to transit Saint Lambert Lock must schedule and pay in advance using the online pleasure craft lockage reservation system. Cash is not accepted as payment for tolls at Canadian locks.
On arrival tie up at the designated docks for pleasure craft, where you can contact the locktender and wait for instructions. For your safety, overnight stays at the docks are forbidden.
This lock uses automated hands-free mooring (HFM) technology for large ships. Pleasure craft are required to tie up and secure their vessels to the lock wall, often alongside other small vessels. The HFM vacuum system is generally not used for pleasure craft.
