We stayed on the outer end of the lower dock wall at Lock 20, which provided a nice panoramic view of Little Lake and Peterborough. It is a 10-minute walk from Lock 20 to the Canadian Canoe Museum. Downtown Peterborough is a 20-minute walk. The lock wall is very pet friendly

Unlike the other locks on Trent-Severn, do not expect any advance directions from lock staff. If you are on the blue line, you will go into the lock. Therefore, determine with the other boaters who will go first and which side to tie to. No rafting in lock, but tie to both sides allowed.

There is room to tie up on both sides of the lower lock walls with grassy areas, shade trees, and picnic tables. The Trans-Canada Trail crosses the lock. Walking distance to bakery, groceries and restaurants in Ashburn. A bit further will take you to downtown Peterborough.
