Old Fort Bay
- Location: Providence Island (West End)
- Lat / Lon: N 25° 03.118' / W 077° 30.175'
- Depth: 8 feet
- Description:
Good anchorage from east and south winds can also be found along the northwestern shore of New Providence in Old Fort Bay. Good light is required to navigate around coral heads and shoals. Expect some surge. This quiet anchorage offers beautiful beaches and stunning sunsets. It gets busier on the weekends when boats and jet skis come through the anchorage (usually too fast).
The resort at Old Fort Bay will not let you dinghy to their beach, but if you call ahead and ask nicely, they may let you walk through the property to get ashore. There are grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
